Posting

Different Content Types

A post is simply a thought, opinion, article, chart or information that you want to share with the rest of the exchange community about a topic. A question is if you have a specific inquiry or want opinions and feedback on a topic in general or a specific question.

Selecting an Exchange

When you post something or ask a question in The Exchange you must post in a specific exchange. You can do this in one of two ways:

1) You can go go directly to that exchange (ex:the Bonds exchange) and post in the feed there

2) Create a post on the main feed where you you will be prompted to select from the bottom left dropdown in which exchange the post will be submitted. Either way, your post will be displayed in the same way to other members on the feed and in the specific exchange in which it was posted.

Tagging Your Post

You must also add at least one tags to your post as well. The tag(s) indicate which topics or areas of interest are relevant to the content of your post. When you tag your post, other people in The Exchange can find your post when they search for that tag.

Reporting a Post

On the bottom right corner of a post there are three dots. Click there and you will see the option to report an inappropriate post and our moderators will address it right away. See “Culture and Rules of Engagement” below.

Notifications

The bell-shaped icon on the top navigation bar is where you can view your notifications. A red indicator dot will show up on the icon when you have a new notification. When you click on the icon you see a pop up of your most recent notifications. You have the option of marking them as read, clicking on the notification (which will take you to that item), or clicking “See All Notifications” which will take you to the page of all your notifications. You can customize your notification settings by clicking on your profile picture in the right hand corner of The Exchange and clicking “Account Settings” on the drop down menu. You can choose what you get notified about and how frequently.

Messaging

You can private message other members on The Exchange by clicking the message icon on the top navigation bar. From there you can search a member by name and send them a private message. You can also do this by going directly to another member’s profile and clicking the “message” button at the top of their profile page. If you have a new, unread message a red indicator dot will appear on the message icon to notify you.

Badges

We want to recognize exchange experts and top contributors to the exchange who are looking to step up even more on this journey with us. Below are the details about how to earn a badge.

Visionary (Gold) = Member of the Real Vision Team

Finance Expert (Silver) = Financial Expert

Financial Markets Experts are specifically those that have firsthand knowledge and experience in a market-facing role (trading & order execution, portfolio management, market strategists, analysts), as opposed to expertise in purely theoretical finance (economists, financial policy, financial history etc). We make this distinction because ultimately, the markets determine the value of our financial assets, and the Financial Market Expert must understand and effectively navigate the dynamics of market behavior in contrast to fundamental reality, and explain to the rest of the non-financial market expert community.

Specialist (Silver) = Significant Contributor on The Exchange and non-financial subject matter expert

How to Become a Specialist

  1. Influence Points:

A minimum of 500 “All Time” influence points are needed to qualify.

  1. Active User:

You have to be consistently active*  in the exchange you are applying for, which includes regular and quality interactions including posts, likes, questions, or responses.

*consistency of activity ensures that the associated Exchange community is actively engaging and informed around key dates and market-consequential events (earnings season, central bank policy meetings, elections etc), and also remains engaged when such events are not occurring as well. Therefore, consistency and activity are defined and determined on an asset class basis accordingly, and not on a predefined quota (i.e. 10 posts per week etc).

  1. Subject Area Competence

Your particular field of non-financial expertise will likely not be of front and center relevance to financial markets at all times, and this should not require you to contribute your expertise in non-financial market related postings regularly. However, as an expert in your field with daily front-line exposure, you must be vigilant and capable of recognizing a potentially consequential market event involving your sector or field, and proactively notify the Exchange community. You do NOT need to provide the particular potential market impact itself – as that is the role of the financial market experts to determine. You will also be constantly and proactively monitoring other expert contributions with relevance to your own field of expertise, and contribute to the discussion with any helpful matters on the topic at hand, as well as initiate a new topic of discussion with market relevance derived from others’ contributions. Finally, you will be responsive to any questions and provide explanations and personal opinions in a timely and thoughtful manner to requests by any of the community members.

Pro/ Plus Benefits

Plus and Pro Members have access to closed groups based on your membership level. These exchanges contain the specific content as well as access to guests and other financial experts in a smaller, closed discussion.

Feature Request and Technical Issues

Post your Feature Request in the Support & Feedback exchange and tag it as “feature request” and an RV Team member will get back to you.

Post your Technical Issue in the Support & Feedback exchange and tag it as “bug” and an RV Team member will get back to you.

Culture and Rules of Engagement

  1. Posts should be thoughtful discussions — not promotional links to external content. Sometimes, posts require a supporting evidence. Just remember, the exchange is a place for discussion — not for promotion. Nobody likes to be spammed.
  2. It’s perfectly acceptable to disagree (even to disagree passionately) with something that’s been posted. When we disagree, we criticize the ideas not the person. We’re here to learn together and from each other; If you disagree with something, provide evidence and data to the contrary.
  3. Posting in the appropriate exchange category
  4. When to Report/flag a post. When in doubt, feel free to let us know. We’re always happy to jump in. Examples:
    • Personal attacks on individuals rather than valid criticisms of their ideas.
    • Overt Promotions to outside content – Irrelevant or not summarized to show relevance
  5. If you are repeatedly reported you will get a warning from an RV member. Real Vision has the right to suspend you from the platform if you continue to get flagged for not following the rules of engagement.
  6. Above all else, please be kind to each other. Real Vision – first and foremost – is a community
